LOS ANGELES--The California Federation of Teachers, which represents more than 120,000 educational employees working at every level of the education system in California--from Head Start to the University of California--has endorsed Congresswoman Karen Bass for re-election to Congress.
"I am honored to have received the endorsement of the California Federation of Teachers' members and leaders," said Rep. Bass. "Across the state and country, our teachers unleash the potential of children. I am committed to continuing to support our nation's educators to ensure that our schools have the resources they need to help our nation's children succeed as adults."
Last year, Rep. Bass worked to pass comprehensive education reform legislation that removes unnecessary testing while ensuring schools set high standards for students. The legislation also included the "Education Stability for Foster Youth Act." Introduced by Rep. Bass, the new law ensures that the nearly 400,000 young people who are a part of our nation's foster care system can stay in the school of their choice if they move homes and guarantees foster youth have a support system to help them throughout their educational career.
"Working together we have made important strides to our nation's school system. I look forward to continuing to work with California's teachers to build on these reforms so that every child can succeed in the classroom," Rep. Bass concluded.
