The Honorable John A. Boehner
Speaker of the House of Representatives
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Speaker Boehner,
We urge you to support legislation that provides for the long-term reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, whose charter expired on June 30, 2015.
The Export-Import Bank has helped American businesses of all sizes export their goods and services abroad to compete in the global market, stimulate job creation and contribute to the growth of local and state economies. Unfortunately, the Bank's charter has now expired, putting jobs and economic growth at jeaporty.
Since 2010, the Export-Import Bank has helped finance the export of goods and services for 898 California companies. The vast majority of these companies—84 percent in 2015—are small businesses, absolutely critical to the California and the Los Angeles economy.
In the last eight years, the Export-Import Bank has created or sustained 1.5 million American jobs, all at no cost to taxpayers. In fact, in 2014 alone, it returned $675 million to American taxpayers.
Four years ago you promised America that House Republicans top priority would be to help business owners create jobs without raising taxes on working families and small businesses.
Reauthorzing the Export-Import Bank's charter will ensure you can keep this promise to America's businesses and workers.
