Karen Bass Secures Endorsements from Key Congressional Leaders

LOS ANGELES – Today Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) announced significant endorsements from key members of Congress in her bid to represent the people of California's 33rd Congressional District.
“I am honored that after hearing of my commitment to deliver change and results for the people of the 33rd Congressional District these outstanding members of Congress have endorsed my candidacy,” Bass said. “I am looking forward to working with these nationally-recognized leaders on important issues like the implementation of health care reform and financial reform.”
Endorsing Bass are: House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Chair of the House Democratic Caucus John Larson (D-CT), California Democratic Congressional Delegation Chair Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), and House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller (D-CA).
Bass also announced endorsements from Representatives Yvette Clarke (D-NY), John Conyers (D-MI), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Jackie Speier (D-CA), Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Charles Wilson (D-OH), and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).
As Speaker, Bass was able to deliver bipartisan results such as protecting 600,000 children from losing their health care, restoring the governor’s cuts to domestic violence programs and helping Californians remain eligible for continued federal unemployment benefits.
Under Bass’ leadership the Assembly fast-tracked federal economic stimulus legislation that aided Californians who have been affected by the national economic crisis as well as jumpstarted billions of dollars of infrastructure projects across the state.
Bass has also been endorsed by the Honorable Diane Watson, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the National Women’s Political Caucus, and many other elected officials and organizations including EMILY’s list.
